Est. 2013
To cultivate a community of STEM scholars who will produce sustainable solutions to global challenges and actively engage as thought leaders in society
Penn State’s first class of Millennium Scholars graduated in May 2017. Of this initial small class, three have earned doctoral degrees and one has earned a medical degree. Six of the thirteen graduates are currently enrolled in Ph.D. programs. The program currently serves 131 scholars. 75 percent are from traditionally underrepresented populations and 59 percent identify as women.
MSP is modeled after the successful, research-driven strategies the Meyerhoff Program at the University of Maryland Baltimore County has refined over the past thirty years.
Scholar’s Declaration of Excellence
Excellence requires sacrifice and commitment. It is the direct result of the chances, choices, and changes that we have made. Excellence can only be achieved through the development of good habits, consistent hard work, and resilience in the face of challenges. We move forward with unwavering focus on the goal and clarity in mission.
We are determined to sacrifice now and live the rest of our lives like champions.
